Housequake
Housequake is without doubt the current and continual club sensation of the Netherlands. This musical movement by DJs Roog and Erick E has definitely caused waves throughout the clubbing world. It’s an earthquake of dance music – sold out, road-blocked clubs with long entrance queues and an atmosphere to rival any club night in the world!
House is hot in Holland once more, with a new generation of dance fans coming through. Both Roog and Erick E have played a pivotal role in the development of the Dutch scene and are arguably pioneers of the genre, retaining their enthusiasm throughout the years.
Perhaps the differences between both artists makes for such a successful collaboration – always up for it party DJ Erick E versus serious music lover Roog. But that’s when the behind the deck magic occurs – the duo form an inspirational team and push each other to the next level. It is a dynamic, musical battle, each challenging the other to top the next track. Six CDJs have never been used to such great effect!
Before teaming up for Housequake, Rogier van Bueren and Erick Eerdhuijzen had both already made it to the top of the Dutch club scene. Erick’s success story as a DJ began at Amsterdam’s legendary Roxy club in the mid 90s, and he has never looked back, quickly gaining a reputation that makes him inextricably linked with dance music. Roog is unquestionably Holland’s most popular house DJ, consistently delivering pure and uncompromising soulful dance productions.
The duo have spun together in the past, at Holland’s best parties such as the legendary Club Risk and Loveboat events. So, why team up for Housequake? ‘For the fun of it’, says Erick E simply. ‘Housequake started out as a laugh,’ adds Roog ‘but now it’s completely gotten out of hand!’ Erick claims it all happened by accident: ‘Once Roog was booked to spin after me at a beach party. When he arrived in the DJ box, I asked him if he would be up for a bit of back to back action. This caused an instant response on the dancefloor - we both enjoyed it so much and the clubbers went completely wild!’ Roog confirms: ‘Our enthusiasm for the music reached the public. Everywhere that we play together is a complete madhouse.’ Erick concludes: ‘We both spin so often each month, so its essential to have a night like this in-between. A few hours of pure party as a duo – that’s Housequake.’
To sum it all up: Housequake stands for good times in the world of house music. Housequake is still THE house experience of 2010 and beyond!
